A fact about slaves. If you were a slave and you wanted to visit a friend down the street, you would have to get a pass
from your owner. But if you did not get a pass and you ran away, your owner might find you and he or she would
whip you.

From reading the Underground Railroad I learned that slaves had a underground railroad so they can get away from their owners. Some slaves got whipped or their owners tied their necks up. The slaves even sang to their masters.

Not all people liked slavery, some people helped the slaves by sending codes to other people too let them know that
the slaves were coming to the next rialroad.

My favorite part in the story was when it said that a girl named Harriet Tubman was such a grate hider that the person that found her would get $40,000! But thankfully nobody ever , ever found her so nobody got any money.

My favorite part was when Harriet helped the other black people escape. She was a great person. And the reward was $40,00 bucks. But nobody cot her so nobody got $40,00 bucks. And after the civil war the black people were free!

The blacks some times got bought by the riches and got treated badly . Some got bought and got treated like part of the family! and got rooms of there own!

When the Civl War ended slavery ended and so was the underground railroad. I learned that there was a right. The right
was that slavery is wrong and if you say something bad about the whites and you were a white, you would be saying something
about you.

It is good that people these days don't do that kind of stuff.

I think it is very sad that back then people thought that colored were not equal and the whites had too own the slaves. If he or she didn't like you, they would sell you.

madisonw said

By reading the Under Ground Railroad I learned that sometimes slaves could sell themselves. I also learned that if the slaves were found by their owners they would either be whiped or hung with a rope on a tree.

Harriet Tubman was a famous slave. She escaped to the south and realized that there were thousands of slaves to save. So she did without getting caught.

I learned that when the slaves don't listen to the owner of them the owner would be whipped the slaves. Then the slaves would try to escape on Christmas because there owner would be at a party. And if the owner cot them the slave would go to jail or get whipped or get tied to a tree by a very very tight rope tell the slaves die.

I wonder if it would be hard if your 'owner' decided if you could marry someone you like.

hi everybody my name is kaylee i'm almost in the middle of the book called the underground railroad and so far what i learned is that slaves would run north and live in their own house and they paid their owners and they earned that money by working for other people.

the book called the under ground railroad is so sad because owners don't treat them nicely and they make them work work work and they don't get to do anything fun because the owners make them pay and do work for other people and it really is sad.
